Centre Releasing Lockdown Circulars Without Considering States’ Position: Mamata Banerjee

Mumbai: On the orders of the Home Ministry to allow some shops to open in residential complexes, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said on Monday that the central government is issuing circulars on lockdown without considering the status of the states.

Banerjee said, “The central government is issuing circulars to all. I have no problem with this, but there should be some consultation on this. They should ask the status of the states.”

The Chief Minister of West Bengal believes that there is a lack of clarity on the instructions issued by the Central Government.

He said, “On one hand they say that the lockdown should be strictly maintained, on the other hand, they say they are opening all the shops. What should we do? There is clarity between what the central government is saying and their instructions.”
