Govt Allows All Shops Barring Those In Malls To Open With 50% Employees

Mumbai: The government has allowed all non-essential shops to open with 50% of employees. It further said that wearing of masks and social distancing would be mandatory in the shops.

The prohibition on shops in malls and market complexes within the limits of municipal corporations would remain in place. It further clarified that the relaxations aren’t applicable in hotspots and containment zones.

Giving relaxation in the category of Commercial and private establishments, MHA has issued an order to all States/UTs, to allow the opening of all shops registered under Shops & Establishment Act of respective States/ UTs, including shops in residential complexes, neighbourhood & standalone shops.

Shops in market complexes, except those within the limits of municipal corporations and municipalities, would be allowed to open. Shops in single & multi-brand malls would not be allowed to open anywhere.

It would be mandatory for all permitted shops to open only with 50% strength of workers, ensure the compulsory wearing of masks and strict adherence to social distancing norms.
