Chirag Paswan Joins NDA After Meeting Amit Shah

Mumbai: Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) leader Chirag Paswan has joined the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), after meeting Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

The news was announced by BJP National President JP Nadda, who also shared images with former Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan’s son.

The event occurs the day prior the National Democratic Alliance meeting, which is in power. Paswan also spoke with Home Minister Amit Shah, describing their conversation as “positive” in regards to the matters connected to the partnership with the BJP.

“Had a positive discussion with the country’s Home Minister respected Shri Amit Shah in New Delhi on issues related to the alliance,” Paswan said in a tweet after meeting Shah.

Later, Shah asserted in a tweet that he and Paswan had an extensive discussion on politics in Bihar.

Nityanand Rai, a top BJP official from Bihar, had previously met Paswan thrice.

In 2019, the unified LJP, headed by Chirag’s father, the late firm Dalit a politician Ram Vilas Paswan, ran candidates in six Lok Sabha seats and received a Rajya Sabha seat as part of a seat-sharing agreement with the BJP.

Despite a split within his own party, the Rashtriya Lok Janshakti Party, led by his uncle, Union minister Pashupati Kumar Paras, is already a part of the current coalition. The young leader wants the BJP to continue with this arrangement.

Before officially establishing an alliance, Chirag Paswan demanded that the BJP be clear about his share of the Lok Sabha and assembly seats in Bihar, according to sources in the LJP (R).
