Citizenship Amendment Bill, 2019 Is Not Anti-Muslim Bill: Amit Shah
Mumbai: Union Home Minister Amit Shah slammed opposition for spreading misinformation against CAB 2019 while tabling the Bill in Rajya Sabha Shah said that CAB is not anti-muslim bill.
Shah questioned that, does giving rights to crores of Muslim women through Triple talaq bill make it anti-Muslim? Triple talaq bill was passed in the Modi 2.0 cabinet earlier this year.
He said, “Abrogation of Article 370, Triple Talaq Bill is not anti-Muslim. Do women not have rights? Kashmir is peaceful even after the abrogation of 370. Likewise, I don’t believe.”
“Article 370 – do only Muslims live in Jammu & Kashmir? No Hindus? No Buddhists? Why is it viewed like that? It has been abrogated for everyone & not only Muslims. How can CAB be anti-Muslim? In this Bill, there is no proposal to touch the citizenship of any Muslim,” he added.
In his counter during the debate, he firmly mentioned that neither CAB is anti-Muslim, nor abrogation of Article 370 is anti-Muslim, Triple Talaq Bill is not anti-Muslim either. Triple Talaq is the Bill to give rights to crores of Muslim women in the country.
CAB passed the Lok Sabha test by a majority of 311 favoured votes. Today it has been tabled in Rajya Sabha for its final test, the government will have to manage 121 seats in order to fulfil its agenda of upliftment of the non-Muslim refugees.
