Colin Munro Backs Southee Despite Two Super Over Losses

Mumbai: New Zealand batsman Colin Munro on Friday supported Tim Southee despite two super-over defeats against India in the T20I series.

“Southee is the best option for bowling in a super over. Quite an inexperienced bowling unit. Tim is an experienced bowler, he knows what he is doing, he really wants bowling in hand. Bowling, especially on arrival, is not easy. We ended up with 12 or 13 mid-range super overs and he is probably bowling for two of the world’s best T20 batsmen,” Munro said at the post-match press conference.

Munro said that Kiwi has played well but Team India has done better than us.

“We are playing some good cricket just 1-2 per cent better than India,” said Munro.

He further said that New Zealand started well but we lost in the end due to pressure.

“We knew what goals we needed in the first few phases of our innings, I felt we did very well and were under pressure again till the end,” he said.

Tim Southe came to bowl the decider after Kiwis put on a target of 14 runs for India in super Over. The visitors chased down the total easily as KL Rahul and Virat Kohli achieved the score in just five balls.

India defeated Blackcaps in the super Over in the fourth T20I of the five-match series at Westpac Stadium.
With this win, India has gained a 4-0 lead in the five-match series.
