Congress Attacks BJP Over Nomination Of Pragya Thakur For Member Of Parliamentary Panel

Mumbai: The BJP MP Pragya Singh Thakur has nominated for the Parliamentary panel, 21-member consultative committee, which is headed by defence minister Rajnath Singh.

Congress slammed BJP over nominating the person who is the prime accused of the Malegaon bomb blast in which six people were killed and 100 others injured when an explosive device strapped to a motorcycle went off near a mosque in north Maharashtra town of Malegaon, about 200 km from here, on September 29, 2008.

They also mentioned the Godse fanatic in which the Assasiner of Mahatma Gandhi was told as a patriot of the nation by Pragya Thakur. “Nathuram Godse ek deshbhakt the, hain aur rahenge [Nathuram Godse was a patriot, is a patriot and will always be one],” she said.

Congress said that this move of BJP is an insult to our defence Forces.

“Pragya Thakur, a terror accused & Godse fanatic has been nominated by the BJP govt. to be a member of the Parliamentary Panel on Defence. This move is an insult to our nation’s defence forces, to our nation’s esteemed parliamentarians & to every Indian, ” Congress tweeted.

The MP is currently under trial for multiple charges under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. The NIA sought a blanket ban on media reporting on the case, but a special court rejected the application.
