COVID-19: Bank Branches And ATMs To Remain Functional During Lockdown 2.0

Mumbai: The Union Home Ministry on Wednesday issued revised guidelines on which sectors and industries would continue to function during the lockdown imposed to include COVID-19.

“In order to reduce the difficulty for the public, additional activities have been allowed to be selected, which will come into force from April 20, 2020. These limited exemptions are based on strict compliance of the existing guidelines by the States / UTs / district administrations based on strict compliance to the existing guidelines,” MHA noted.

Bank branches and ATMs, IT vendors for banking operations, banking correspondents, ATM operations and cash management agencies will remain operational during this period.

Bank branches will be allowed to operate as per normal working hours until the DBT cash transfer is completed.
The local administration has to ensure that there are adequate security personnel in the bank branches to maintain social discrimination and law and order.

The ministry has also exempted all health services, all agriculture, horticultural activities and many other services including MNREGA works.

The local administration has to ensure that there is adequate security personnel at bank branches to maintain social distancing and law and order. The government has made it clear that strict social distance norms have to be maintained.
