Covid-19: Government Releases District Level Guidelines For Coronavirus Surveillance

Mumbai: The Government of India releases a set of guidelines for the district level so as to establish systematic surveillance to fight the pandemic.

ICMR and NCDC have collaboratively come out with the stakeholders to initiate a population-based survey in selected districts, according to the one-page document released by the MoHFW.

According to the guidelines released, the Health Ministry has asked the districts to test 100 samples per week to low-risk outpatient attendees and pregnant women and high-risk populations like healthcare workers.

Serosurvey involves testing samples who have not been infected to Covid-19 previously. This step will help the authorities to check if the community was infected with the virus.

The Serosurvey, however, will be in addition to the current routine testing. The main objective is to maintain a check on the prevalence of SARS-COV2 at the district level.
