COVID-19: Maharashtra Vaccinates 80,705 People In Last 24 Hours

Mumbai: According to the Maharashtra Health Department, 80,705 people were vaccinated in Maharashtra in the last 24 hours on Friday. Out of the total number of vaccinations during the last 24 hours, 79,748 were administered the Covishield vaccine and 957 were given the Covaxin vaccine.

With this, the total immunization in the state has increased to 24,34,966. The Union Health Ministry expressed concern over the COVID-19 situation in Maharashtra during its weekly press conference on Thursday and said that due to testing, tracking and lack of proper practices of COVID, there has been an increase in active cases in the state.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray said yesterday that strict lockout measures would be implemented in some parts of the state to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

In view of the increasing infection, a complete lockdown has been announced in the Nagpur city area from 15 March to 21 March.

According to official figures, 14,317 new coronavirus cases were reported in Maharashtra on Thursday, the biggest one-day spike of the year, taking the state’s caseload to 22,66,374. There are 1,06,070 active cases in the state.
