COVID-19 Vaccination Should Be Done 3 Months After Recovery From Virus: Govt

Mumbai: The Union Health Ministry has accepted the new recommendations of the National Expert Group on Vaccine Administration (NEGVAC) regarding COVID vaccination.

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has said that COVID-19 vaccination should be deferred by three months after recovery for patients infected with the virus.

For individuals who have received at least the first dose and have received COVID-19 infection before the completion of the dosing program, the 2nd dose should be deferred by 3 months after clinical recovery from COVID-19 illness.

COVID-19 vaccination for all lactating women has been recommended by the Ministry of Health.

According to the latest guidelines, there is no need for screening vaccine recipients by rapid antigen test (RAT) prior to COVID-19 vaccination.

SARS-2 COVID-19 patients who have been given SARS-2 monoclonal antibodies or spasm plasma, then COVID-19 vaccination should be postponed for 3 months from the date of discharge from the hospital.

Individuals with any other serious general illness requiring hospitalization or ICU care should also wait 4–8 weeks before receiving the COVID-19 vaccine.

A person can donate blood 14 days after receiving the COVID-19 vaccine or after an RT-PCR negative test if he is infected with a coronavirus.

Meanwhile, the central government today announced that a total of 5.86 crore COVID vaccine doses will be provided free of cost to states and Union territories from May 1 to June 15.
