Mumbai: Cyclone Fani hits Odisha coast on Friday forenoon nearly 65 km from Gopalpur and 80 km from Puri at 5.30 am.
The Cyclone Meteorological Department of India said that the speed of the extreme cyclone Fani can reach 200-230 km when its landslide.
“According to our last update on location at 5.30 am, Cyclone Fani was 65 kilometers from Gopalpur and 80 kilometers from Puri, ” said an official.
In view of the cyclonic storm, the Odisha administration has removed more than 11 lakh people of weak districts since Thursday. More than 3 lakh people have been evacuated from Ganjam district alone, followed by 1.3 lakh people from Puri district where there is a possibility of landslides. About 5000 kitchen shelters are working to serve the people
