Delhi Will Bid For 2048 Olympics, Says Delhi CM

Mumbai: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that the national capital would bid to host the Olympics in 2048, stating that Delhi’s budget on Tuesday provides a vision for the same.

“The budget (Delhi Budget) provides a vision that the 2048 Olympic Games should be held in Delhi. Delhi will bid for the 2048 Olympics. We will take up whatever infrastructure and other necessities that are needed to be created for it,” he said.

Kejriwal said, “Delhi Finance Minister Manish Sisodia has made a grand budget. This budget was prepared to keep in mind the people of all sections of society.”

Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Tuesday presented a budget of Rs 69,000 crore for the financial year 2021-22 and said that the goal of the Aam Aadmi Party-led government is to bring the per capita income of the national capital to the level. Singapore by 2047.

“We are aiming to bring the per capita income of Delhi to be equal to the per capita income of Singapore by 2047. To successfully achieve this goal it will require a 16pc increase in income. It will be difficult but we will work towards making it a success,” said Sisodia during his budget address.

The Delhi government has allocated Rs 50 crore in this year’s budget to provide free COVID-19 vaccines to the people of the national capital. Sisodia said, ‘COVID-19 vaccines will be available free of cost to the people of Delhi in the government hospitals of the central government. We have allocated Rs 50 crore in the budget for this.

The budget session of the Delhi Legislative Assembly is scheduled to continue till March 16.
