Difficult To Say How COVID-19 Entered Bio-Bubble’: Sourav Ganguly Breaks Silence On IPL 2021 Suspension

Mumbai: A few days after the Indian Premier League was suspended for a 2021 bio-bubble violation, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President Sourav Ganguly broke his silence for the first time.

In an exclusive interview with The Indian Express, Ganguly admitted that it is difficult to say how the novel virus entered the bubble. The former Indian captain also revealed that he had initially received a report stating that there was no breach

“The report we received is that the bubble is not expected to break. How it happened is very difficult to say. How so many people are getting (infected) in the country is also very difficult to say,” Ganguly said.

After 29 matches of the season, the IPL was suspended with positive reports from Sunrisers Hyderabad’s Wriddhiman Saha and Delhi Capital’s Amit Mishra on Tuesday, with the top cricketing body taking care of the players’ safety as with any other option Did not leave my mind.

Earlier on Monday, two KKR stars – Varun Chakravarthy and Sandeep Warrier – also tested positive for Covid-19, while two members of the CSK contingent also contracted the virus.

Reports say that the BCCI is looking at a suitable window in September to complete the remaining 31 matches. There is nothing official on this.

Meanwhile, some English players have already reached the United Kingdom, while Australian players will go to the Maldives and end their quarantine after which they will return to Australia.
