Mumbai: DMK MLA Anbazhagan, 62, who tested coronavirus positive on june 2 passed away on his birthday at the Chennai Hospital.
As per reports, his health began to deteriorate early this morning today. He was admitted to Dr Rela Institute and Medical Centre, Chennai on 2nd june after testing positive and complaining of severe acute respiratory distress.
“The 61-year old MLA, who has been fighting for his life with severe COVID-19 pneumonia rapidly deteriorated early this morning. In Spite of full medical support, including mechanical ventilation at our COVID-19 facility, he succumbed to his illness,” the hospital said in a statement.
Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Edappadi K Palaniswami offered his deepest condolences to the MLA’s family.
Expressing sorrow over the MLA’s demise, V. Narayanaswamy tweeted, “My heartfelt condolences on the demise of Shri Anbalagan #DMK leader & Member of Legislative Assembly #TamilNadu .
He was a strong leader of Dravidian movement pillar of DMK. His loss is a great loss personally to DMK President Shri @mkstalin . May his soul rest in peace.”
