For The First Time DRS To Be Used In T20 Women’s World Cup

Mumbai : ICC Women’s T20 tournament will go on floor from this Friday, some of the new rules have been implemented this year whereas the Decision Review System (DRS) and edge detection technology will make its appearance at ICC World T20 tournament for the first time.

For the first time ever all the matches will be broadcasted in more then 200 countries around the world.

In an media release ICC stated that “Building on the momentum from last year’s ICC Cricket world Cup which broke all viewership records with 180 million people watching the final, the coverage is a part of the ICC’s commitment to accelerating the growth of the women’s game. It also reflects a growing demand for women’s cricket. 70 per cent of cricket’s one billion plus fans said they wanted more coverage of the women game in the recent ICC global market research”.

Meanwhile the ICC’s broadcast partner StarSports will provide all the coverages to fans across the world, live and highlights television coverage nearly in 160 territories. ICC tournaments will also broadcasted in the mobile phone various digital platforms like Hotstar in India and channel apps ESPN play in host nation.

Meantime the commentary box will witness the former Indian captain Anjum Chopra, former Australia player Lisa Sthalekar, leading broadcaster Melanie Jones former England captain Nasser Hussain, former Indian batsmen Sanjay Manjrekar and WestIndies bowler Lan Bishop and many more.

Anjum Chopra was quoted in a release saying “Womens cricket has improved by leaps and bounds and what we get to watch now is some very high quality cricket, The ICC Women’s World Cup last year was huge in the way women’s cricket was broadcast and consumed and it’s no surprise that we’re now seeing all 23 games of ICC’s Women’s world T20 being broadcast live. It will be the first stand-alone Women’s World T20 and I’m glad to be apart of this”.

The tournament will start from 9th of November to and witness the final faceoff on 24th November in WestIndies. In 2016 WestIndies defeated Australia by 8 wickets and conquered the T20 Worldcup.
