Hima Das Out Of World Championship Due To Back Problem

Mumbai: World champion Hima Das has been ruled out of world championship due to a nagging back problem “unfortunately Hima will not be able to compete at the world championship in Doha due to her back injury” said athletics federation of India (AFI) presented Adele Sumariwalla.

The Athletics Federation of India (AFI)had on September 9 named seven women, including Hima Das for the 4x400m mixed relay races at the world championship to be held from September 27 to October 6 in Doha.

It says 19-year-old Hima Das was not fully fit for the world relay championship held in Yokohama. Last May as she was suffering from Lumber spondylitis and which could be career-threatening to her. After suffered a muscle spasm in the Asian Athletic championship in Doha she was able to complete her race in April this year.

At the time dumpty chief coach Radhakrishnan Nair had said that the injury was the lower back spasm. Even during her training stint in Europe, as a part of the preparation for the world championship, she ran just 400m race as she is learnt to be in pain while running a longer distance.
