ICC Revamped Its Men’s T20I Ranking With 80 Teams In The Table

Mumbai: In a recent development, the International Cricket Council has expanded its Men’s T20I Team Ranking Table with 80 teams, which is now in the form of a vehicle for the development of the sport to assess its progress in the recognized world body.

Pakistan, ICC T20 World Cup champions in 2009, are now on 286 points while the next four teams are within two points of each other – South Africa (262), England (261), Australia (261) and India (260).

T20I ranking table that features all Members meeting the criteria of having played six matches against other ICC members since May 2016.

The step to expand the table is following the decision of the ICC last year that on January 1, 2019, all men’s T20 matches will be classified internationally. With the ICC Women’s T20I Team Ranking, which was launched in October 2018, teams will have to play six matches against the other teams in the last three to four years to remain in the rankings table.

Eligibility for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup is underway, in which five regional finals include 58 T20 matches, important movements on the rankings in the coming months means. The first finals took place in Papua New Guinea last month, while in Africa final Uganda (May 19-24), in Europe Final Guernsey (June 15-19), Asia Finals in Singapore (July 22-28) and the United States in the United States The final (August 19-25) is yet to come.

According to the statement released by ICC, Six of these teams will join the global qualifiers in hosts UAE, Hong Kong, Ireland, Netherlands, Oman, Papua New Guinea, Scotland, and Zimbabwe, and there will be another chance to improve their stance on the table as they try to qualify for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2020 in Australia

South Africa and India have switched between two and five places in the extended table, whose launch coincides with the annual ranking update, in which the results of the series are removed from 2015-16 and the results of 2016-17 and 2017-18 There is 50 percent weight.

In other important changes, Afghanistan and Sri Lanka rose one place to seventh and eighth place respectively, making the West Indies come ninth. What would be the big news for their passionate fans, Nepal has moved from 14th to 11th place, while Namibia has secured 20th position.
