ICC To Consult Australian Government Over Men’s T20 World Cup

Mumbai: The International Cricket Council (ICC) chief executive Manu Sawhney said on Monday that the elite body would consult the Australian government on moving ahead with the men’s T20 World Cup 2020 in Australia.

The limited-overs World Cup is to be played from October 18 and November 15 at seven venues across Australia. Since all sports activity has been suspended due to the coronovirus epidemic, there is a possibility that the event will be postponed.

However, the ICC will take a final decision on the matter. The governing body of cricket is hosting a meeting of the Chief Executive Committee (CEC) on 23 April which will give an update on the tournament.

“In relation to ICC events, including the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, we will continue to consult experts and officials, including the Australian Government. We will use all data and information available to us to ensure that we make responsible decisions “In all the competitions at the appropriate time, which are in the best interests of our game,” Sawhney said in a statement.

Right now, there is no definitive answer as no top games like IPL, Premier League, LA Liga are being played and the coronovirus crisis will subside.
