If I feel I Can Hit, I’m Hitting That Delivery: Shivam Dube On His Form In IPL 2022

The pair revived CSK at 36 for 2 and took them to the highest score of the season - 216 for 4

Mumbai: CSK all-rounder Shivam Dube, who has become the second-highest scorer in the ongoing IPL season, has said he’s only trying to play his natural game. He smashed 95* off 46 as the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) went down by 23 runs at the DY Patil Stadium on Tuesday.

Dubey and opener Robin Uthappa (88 off 50) kept the RCB bowlers tied with a massive 165-run stand for the third wicket. Recording his highest IPL score, which included five fours and eight sixes, Dubey said that he takes all the balls in his arc and is confident to send them over the fence. Also Read: I Felt It Was Time To Take Him On: Uthappa On Smashing Maxwell For 18 Runs

“Management has given me security. Additionally, I always back my game. The ball I feel I can hit, I am hitting that delivery. And since I am connecting well, my confidence is high. I am just trying to play my natural game,” the 28-year-old said in response to a Sportskeeda query at the post-match press conference. Also Read: It’s My 1st Ever Victory As Captain, I Dedicate It To My Wife: Jadeja On Win vs RCB

The pair revived CSK at 36 for 2 and took them to the highest score of the season – 216 for 4.

After scoring 3 off 6 balls in CSK’s opening game, Dubey converted it with scores of 49 in 30 (vs LSG) and 57 in 30 (vs PBKS) in the next two matches. Born in Mumbai, this boy knows how to do better in domestic cricket. But he admitted that he was trying not to think much.

“Whatever I was trying to do for a long time, now I am capable of doing it. Whatever game I was playing in Ranji Trophy and domestic cricket, you have to raise that level here. I tried to stay balanced, didn’t overthink and held myself back. I am following my main game instead of doing anything extra,” reiterated Shivam Dubey, who won the first player of the match in IPL.

CSK have their first points on the board after four consecutive losses. However, they remain at the ninth position while RCB are outside the top four with three wins from five matches.

CSK once again got off to a poor start, scoring just 37 runs in the powerplay and beating Ruturaj Gaikwad (17 off 16) and Moeen Ali (3 off 8). The Yellow Army’s highest opening stand this season is just 28.

But Shivam Dubey, running at number four, attacked the spinners of RCB to get the ball rolling. The momentum that 36-year-old Uthappa achieved by scoring 156 runs in the last 10 overs came to an end.

Dubey kept the new ball in the pitch from the very beginning. But the duo had no half-measures while increasing the run-flow, saying they used to hit big shots whenever the ball was in their slot.

CSK next face the Gujarat Titans (GT) in Pune on Sunday night. RCB are scheduled to play the Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Wankhede Stadium the previous evening.
