India, Germany To Work Very Closely On Sustainable Development, Climate Protection: Merkel

Mumbai:  In another development, German Chancellor Angela Merkel said that India and Germany intend to “work very closely” on sustainable development and climate protection.

Merkel is in Delhi and is leading the German delegation for the fifth Indo-German Intergovernmental Consultation (IGC). India and Germany held delegation-level talks and exchanged five documents, including a joint declaration for consultation for the period 2024 to 2020 and another joint declaration of the Indo-German Partnership for Green Urban Mobility.

Speaking after the ceremony, Merkel said, “Our two countries are connected by a strategic relationship, but also for a friendly relationship. During my travels, I have learned a lot about India. Though you cannot learn much Because India is like a continent. So diverse in terms of culture and tradition. “

Sharing the stage with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, she said, “We intend to work very closely on sustainable development and climate protection.”

She said, “20,000 Indian citizens are studying in Germany. We want to see more. When it comes to vocational training, we want teachers to be exchanged as well.”

Prime Minister Modi in his address named Merkel a good friend and both her and India.

“I am happy and proud that she is a good friend of India and I am too. As Chancellor for nearly a decade and a half, she has contributed significantly to deepening Indo-German relations. I thank her for this.”
