India Has Conducted Over 25 Lakh COVID-19 Tests: ICMR

Mumbai: The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has conducted more than 25 lakh COVID-19 tests in India till 12.30 pm on Wednesday.

“As of 12.30 pm, 25,36,156 COVID tests have been conducted in the country. Yesterday, 1,07,609 trials were conducted. The daily figure of the test has been going above one lakh for the last two days,” said R. Gangakhedkar during a press conference today.

There are a total of 555 laboratories for COVID testing in India, which are currently active, out of which 391 labs fall under the ICMR-network and 164 are in the private sector.

He said that out of 1,07,609 tests, 89,466 tests were conducted in ICMR laboratories, while 18,143 tests were conducted in private laboratories.

Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Health, Luv Aggarwal said that India is focusing on implementing preventive actions in terms of control measures, hand, hygiene, respiratory hygiene and environmental hygiene and physical disturbances, including COVID-19 proliferation.

The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said on Wednesday that the number of coronovirus cases in India rose to 1,06,750, including 42,298 recoveries and 3,303 deaths. There are 61,149 active cases.
