India Records World’s Highest-Ever Daily Coronavirus Death Toll As 4,529 Die

Mumbai: India on Wednesday recorded the highest-ever one-day rise in the number of COVID-19 deaths for any country as 4,529 people died due to the virus in the last 24 hours. With this, India’s coronavirus death toll has risen to 2,83,248

The country’s coronavirus caseload has increased to 2,54,96,330 with 2,67,334 more people testing positive for the viral disease.

In India, there have been more than 4,000 deaths due to COVID since May 12. This is the third consecutive day when less than 3 lakh infections have occurred in a single day in the country. The 24-hour count went below the 3 lakh mark for the first time on 21 April.

With the release of 3,89,851 patients from hospitals in the last 24 hours, the total number of people recovering has increased to 2,19,86,363. The active caseload in the country has come down to 32,26,719, which is data updated at 8 am.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 32,03,01,177 samples have been tested till May 18 and 20,08,296 samples have been tested on Tuesday.
