India Reports Lowest Daily Coronavirus Cases In 58 Days As 1.2 Lakh Test Positive
Mumbai: According to the Ministry of Health And Family Welfare, India on Saturday reported 1,20,529 new coronavirus cases, the lowest single-day jump in the number of cases in 58 days.
Whereas 3,380 deaths due to deadly virus reported in the last 24 hours.
The total number of cases in India now stands at 2,86,94,879 and the death toll is 3,44,082. As many as 1,97,894 people were discharged taking the total recovery tally to 2,67,95,549.
For 23 consecutive days, the number of people recovering from new cases is increasing.
Till Friday, 22,78,60,317 people have been vaccinated and the case fatality rate stands at 1.19 per cent.
According to the ministry, the daily new cases are the lowest in 58 days and the weekly positivity rate has come down to 6.89 per cent.
A total of 20,84,421 tests were conducted on Thursday, taking the total cumulative tests to 36,11,74,142.
The daily positivity rate declined from 10 per cent to 5.78 per cent for the 12th consecutive day, the ministry said.
The active case count has reduced to 15,55,248 comprising 5.73 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate has improved to 93.08 per cent, reported PTI adding that a net decline of 77,420 cases was recorded in the virus count in a span of 24 hours.
