India Slams Pakistan’s Attempt To Raise Kashmir Issue At South Asian Summit

Mumbai: On Sunday the Pakistani delegate tried to raise the Kashmir issue at the South Asian Summit held in the Maldives, alleging that India has wrongfully abrogated article 370. Whereas India tried to end the topic by saying that the Islamabad should first stop terrorism, which is the biggest threat to humanity.

Pakistan’s Deputy speaker of the National Assembly Qasim Suri began his argument by saying about the Kashmir issue. But the Indian representative was quick to retaliate and sabotage Suri’s attempt of making the Kashmir issue a topic for discussion in the international platform. The Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh immediately intervened and a point of order was mentioned by India.

“We strongly object to raising the internal issue of India here and we also reject the politicization of this forum by raising issues which are extraneous to the summit,” Harivansh said.

During the argument, the Pakistani representative went on speaking at a length to make his point clear not allowing his Indian counterpart to speak. The president of the Summit asked Qasim Suri to let Harivansh speak, but he did not pay the heed.

Harivansh retaliated by saying that Pakistan first needed to put an end to the terrorism prevalent in their country and the cross-border terrorism. He said, “There is a need for Pakistan to end cross-border terrorism and all kinds of state support to the same in the interest of regional peace and stability. Terrorism is the biggest threat to the entire humanity today. Therefore, unanimously we should not allow in this August gathering any kind of circulated statement to become a part of the proceeding.”

When the Pakistani representative commented that the world can’t ignore the oppression on Kashmir, Harivansh said that the world knows how Pakistan committed genocide in a part of their own country which is now a separate entity called Bangladesh. And hence Pakistan holds no moral right to raise the issue on the international platform.

After the abrogation of article 370 by India, there have been multiple attempts by Pakistan to pitch the issue to the international level but failed every time. The Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan had even announced that he will take the issue to the International level and that he will be Kashmir’s ambassador and make the world hear Kashmir’s voice.
