Ireland Announces Its ODI Squad For Tri-Series In England

Mumbai: Ireland announced its team for its upcoming Tri-series ahead of the World Cup.

William Porterfield will lead the team with two uncapped players Lorcan Tucker and Josh Little.

“Both the players Lorcan Tucker and Josh Little have been improving and consistently playing and we would be delighted to make their debuts in one-day international cricket,” Andrew White the chairman of Ireland’s selectors said.

“Josh has been giving us a variation mark bowling by playing consistently well in the T20s and we believe that he can bring it in the 50 over format,” he added.

Gary Wilson will back up to the team who was missed out at the Afghanistan tour due to medical issues.
“We have chosen a team as to who blends to be experienced plus youth, as well as rewarding form and consistency over months,” White said.

Ireland’s ODI team for the first half of the tri-series: William Porterfield (c), Andrew Balbirnie, George Dockrell, Josh Little, Andrew McBrine, Barry McCarthy, James McCollum, Tim Murtagh, Kevin O’Brien, Boyd Rankin, Paul Stirling, Stuart Thompson, Lorcan Tucker, Gary Wilson.

Ireland will announce its second half squad at the due course.

Ireland will take on England at the one-off ODI on May 3 and the tri-series begins from May 5.
