Premium Towards Group Mediclaim Policy Will Not Be Provided To Jet Airways Employees’

Mumbai: Airlines Chief People Officer Rahul Taneja said on Tuesday that Jet Airways is not giving its employees a premium for a group mediclaim policy.

In a statement issued to the employees of the airline, Taneja said that the mediclaim policy of employees will end on midnight of May 1. “These circumstances are not much of our work and we would like to do things differently, we are just a few survivors.”

Airline Chief Executive Officer Vinay Dubey had said that Jet Airways is in regular contact with its lenders as well as to bail out the government from its financial crisis. He had said that he was hoping for an eager, healthy investor in the company to deal with the current debt crisis.

Due to the lack of cash, Jet Airways closed its operations on April 22. It has a loan of Rs 8,500 crore, mostly of government-operated banks. With the sudden closure of the airlines, jobs of more than 20,000 employees are on the wager.

Meanwhile, Jet Airways announced on Monday that Naseem Zaidi, the non-executive and non-independent director of the airline, has left the board, citing lack of personal reasons and time. In an exchange filing, Jet Airways said, “It is to inform you that Nasim Zaidi has submitted his resignation as a non-executive, non-independent director of the company since April 21 due to lack of personal reasons and time.”

By November 2018, the negative financial outlook has been reported due to mounting losses to Jet Airways. Therefore, interaction with potential investors or buyers has started with cost reduction measures.

It was reported in March 2019 that nearly a quarter of Jet Airways aircraft landed due to unpaid lease rates. A consortium of lenders is expected to call for a full 51% stake in the airline to pay their dues. Another equity partner, Etihad, planned to decide either defence or a serious relationship with Jet Airways during its board meeting on March 31.
