Jammu Kashmir: PDP Seeks Opposition Support Over Amid Tension In Valley

Mumbai: After Mehbooba Mufti was house arrested at midnight, the People’s Democratic Party, Rajya Sabha MP Nazir Ahmed has written a letter to the opposition MPs asking for a statement from the government on tension after heavy security construction in Jammu and Kashmir

“As you all know, we have only two MPs from the PDP in the Rajya Sabha and during the last few days we have tried to raise this issue on the Table of the House and have tried to seek answers from the government, but we have been received with a deaf ear,” said Laway in the letter.

“We, therefore, request all the nationalist leaders and those who have concern for the people of Kashmir to support us in the Parliament on Monday in seeking answers from the government, because all Kashmiris are at the movement eyeing on the Parliamentarians and are really looking for an answer whether the people of Kashmir really mean anything to India or is it only the land of Kashmir?” the letter further reads.

Expressing his concern over the situation in the valley following massive security build-up in the state and said that Kashmir is a political issue which needs to be addressed “politically”.

He said, “But present political dispensation in our country is hell-bent upon browbeating the concerted efforts of mainstream leaders and thwarting all such collective political efforts, which are seeking the answer/response from the Central government.”

The PDP leader said that there is a need to tell the truth behind the conversation that has taken place after the recent developments. He said, we are asking the government to break its silence and give a statement to resolve the issue.

There is speculation that the government is making some plans on Article 35A, Article 370 and the division of the state.

There were speculations by the government’s security advisor to urge tourists to leave the valley immediately.
