Karnataka Logs Over 1,100 New COVID-19 Cases, 6 Deaths Push In Last 24 Hours

Mumbai: The Health Department said on Tuesday that 1,100 new COVID-19 cases and six related fatal accidents have occurred in Karnataka.

The state last reported more than 1,000 cases on December 24, with 1,005 new cases. Of the 1,135 fresh cases reported on Tuesday, 710 were from Bengaluru urban alone.

On this day 561 patients were discharged after recovery.

The Health Department stated in its bulletin that as of the evening of March 16, a total of 9,62,339 COVID-19 positive cases had been confirmed, including 12,403 deaths and 9,40,489 discharges.

It said, out of 9,428 active cases, 9,299 patients are in isolation in designated hospitals and are stable, while 129 are in ICUs.

Of the six deaths recorded on Tuesday, three were from Bangalore Urban and one each from Dharwad, Kalaburagi and Mysuru.

The districts where new cases were reported to include Bengaluru Urban 710, Mysuru (58), Dakshina Kannada (50), Kalaburagi (46), Bengaluru Rural (38), Tumkuru and Udupi (32).

Bengaluru Urban district topped the list of positive cases, totalling 4,12,699, followed by Mysuru (54,549) and Ballari (39,426).

A total of 1,99,21,424 samples have been tested so far, of which 68,469 were tested on Tuesday alone, and 6,485 of them were rapidly antigen tested.
