Kerala Reports 6,419 New COVID-19 Cases, 7,066 Recoveries

Mumbai: On Wednesday, 6,419 COVID-19 positive cases and 7,066 recoveries were registered in Kerala, while 69,394 people are undergoing treatment for the virus, which has so far claimed 1,943 lives.

In the last 24 hours, 67,369 samples were tested and the test positivity was 9. 53 percent, Health Minister KK Selja said in a press release.

So far, 56,21,634 samples have been sent for testing.

The total virus caseload has touched 5,37,791, while 4,68,460have been cured of the disease.

Ernakulam has the highest number of 887 cases at 887, followed by Kozhikode 811, Thrissur 703, Kollam 693, and Alappuzha 637.

The toll has increased to 1,943 with the death of 28 COVID19.

Of the positive cases, 68 are Heatley activists, 98 came from outside the state, 5576 were infected through contact, the minister said.

There are 3,18,833 under surveillance in various districts including 16,503 in hospitals.

The release said six areas were included in the hotspot list and 18 were removed.
