More Than 37.07 Crore COVID-19 Vaccine Doses Provided To States, UTs So Far

The new phase of universalization of COVID-19 vaccination began on June 21, 2021

Mumbai: The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Tuesday said that over 37.07 crore COVID vaccine doses have been provided to the States and Union Territories so far.

The release issued by the ministry said, “So far more than 37.07 crores (37,07,23,840) (37,07,23,840) vaccine doses have been provided to States/UTs through all sources and 23 80,000 more doses are in the pipeline.”

Out of this, the total consumption including wastage is 35,40,60,197 doses (as per data available at 8 am today). More than 1.66 crores (1,66,63,643) remaining and untapped COVID vaccine doses are still available with the States, UTs and private hospitals to be administered. The new phase of universalization of COVID-19 vaccination began on June 21, 2021.

Immunization drive has been intensified for increasing availability of vaccines, better planning of vaccine availability in States and Union Territories, and streamlining the vaccine supply chain. As part of the nationwide vaccination campaign, the Government of India is supporting the States and Union Territories by providing them with free COVID vaccines.

In the new phase of universalization of the COVID-19 vaccination campaign, the central government will procure and supply (free of cost) 75 per cent of the vaccines being produced by the vaccine manufacturers in the country to the states and union territories.
