Mumbai Crime Branch Submits Chargesheet For Dr. Payal Tadvi’s Suicide Case

Mumbai: On Tuesday 23rd July 2019, the crime branch of Mumbai filed a 200-page Chargesheet against three doctors Hema Ahuja (28), Bhakti Mehari (26) and Ankita Khandelwal (27)- who has been in jail since their arrests on may 28-29, under the Dr Payal’s suicide case. The copy of the alleged suicide note left behind by the victim is also the part of the Chargesheet.

Payal’s family has stated that she committed suicide on 22nd May after the three doctors taunted and hustled casteist comments at her as she belonged to a scheduled tribe and also gave her extra work.

Along with the charge of abetment to suicide under the Indian Penal Code, the three have been additionally booked under the provisions of the SC/ST ( Prevention of Atrocities) Act and the anti-ragging act.
