Mumbai: Over 6-Lakh People In Home Quarantine Says BMC

Mumbai: Coronavirus cases across the country, including Maharashtra, are worrisome. On Monday, the state recorded 63,294 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours on 11 April.

As financial capital entered its largest one-day spike of over 63,000 cases, the largest single-day increase since the pandemic, the Mumbai civic body allowed domestic segregation if a patient is asymptomatic, or has mild symptoms.

To curb the spread of COVID-19 infection in Mumbai, 6.10 lakh COVID-19 patients are in-home quarantined, according to Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) data.

According to a Civic Body official, if a patient is in the case of elderly and co-morbid patients with no symptoms, the BMC allows isolation in the home. It is allowed after evaluation by an assistant medical health officer in consultation with the patient’s family doctor, was saying as quoted by The Times of India.

According to the Health Bulletin, the city currently has more than 90,000 active cases. BMC data also state that in 90,000-odd active cases, 75,000 are asymptomatic and their condition is stable. Just a few weeks ago, the number of COVID patients under home quarantine was 3.11 lakh whereas in February this year it is 99% anomalous.

According to the State Department of Health Bulletin, the total count of cases has reached 34,07,245, including 27,82,161 recoveries in the state, while the cumulative death count has reached 57,987.

On Saturday, Maharashtra recorded 55,411 new COVID-19 cases, 53,005 recoveries and 309 deaths.
