Mumbai’s MTNL Building Catches Fire, Around 100 Trapped

Mumbai: The building behind the Bandra fire station,that houses the state-run telecom company MTNL catches fire and about 100 people are reported to be trapped on the buildings terrace. 14 fire engines are at the spot to control the vigorous fire. A rescue operation has been launched to evacuated people trapped in the building.

The building that is situated at SV Road in the suburban Bandra, has confined a level-four fire and on the 3rd and 4th floor of the ninth storey building.  The cause of the fire is not known yet but the witnesses have been reported that they had smelled burning wires before the fire broke out.

Every effort is been taken by the fire-fighters to evacuate the people. Many of them have been brought out from the 5th floor. Dozens are still trapped on the terrace, said the eye-witnesses

News agency PTI reported that the fire broke out at around 3pm at the MTNL building which was incidentally located near the fire brigade centre in Bandra.
