Mumbai: In a shocking incident, number of Muslim residents pelted stones on Gurdwara Nankana Sahib in Pakistan.

It is reported that the mob was led by the family of Mohammad Hassan, who abducted and replaced Sikh girl Jagjit Kaur, (the daughter of Granthi of Gurdwara). Police reached the gurdwara to control the crowd, informed the ANI.

Akali Dal MLA Manjinder Singh Sirsa shared a video of the incident, in which an angry mob can be seen chanting anti-Sikh slogans outside the gurdwara.

Sirsa tweeted, “Live footage of Nankana Sahib, where an angry Muslim crowd is outside the Gurdwara Sahib and shouting anti-Sikh slogans … I urge Imran Khan to take immediate action on such communal incidents, which Increasing insecurity in the minds of Sikhs.”

Expressing concern over the incident, the Foreign Ministry condemned the attack and asked Imran Khan-led Pakistan government to take immediate steps to ensure the safety of members of the Sikh community.

“India strongly condemns these rampant acts of destruction and desecration of the holy place. We call upon the Government of Pakistan to take immediate steps to ensure the safety, security and welfare of members of the Sikh community. Strict action should be taken against miscreants from the holy gurdwara and members of the minority Sikh community should be attacked.

In addition, the Government of Pakistan is engaged to take all measures to protect and preserve the sanctity of the Holy Nankana Sahib Gurdwara and its surroundings.

It added, “We are concerned about the vandalism committed at the revered Nankana Sahib gurdwara today.

Members of the minority Sikh community have committed violence in Nankana Sahib, the birthplace of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. These blasphemous actions followed the forcible abduction and conversion of Sikh girl Jagjit Kaur, who was abducted from her home in Nankana Sahib city in August last year. ”
