NDA Government Is Indifferent To The Needs Of People Of West Bengal: Mamata

Mumbai: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee accused the NDA government of “being indifferent to the needs of the people” of her state, claiming that repeated requests from the Center for degradation of many projects have been on deaf ears.

“What has he (Modi) done for the people in the last five years? Farmers are committing suicide and unemployment is on the rise. The price of gas cylinders has increased from Rs 450 to 1000 rupees. Prime Minister, it seems that there is no problem with any of these issues,” she said.

Banerjee said that her efforts to bring development in the state have been stopped by the Center on several occasions, Banerjee said that her government is trying to acquire Dunlap (sick tire factory) here, but the NDA government has not cooperated.

“In the last three years, I am trying to handle Dunlop, I need a sign from the centre and it is also pending,” she claimed.

The Trinamool Congress supremo also said that it was pushing for a change in the name of the state – from West Bengal to Bangla – to avoid appearing in the bottom of the lists prepared alphabetically.

“Look at the state-owned BSNL. About 50,000 people are going to lose their jobs. When I was the railway minister, I took the initiative to bring the burn standard under the ministry.”

She added saying, “However, PM is indifferent to the needs of the people of Bengal, though they claim that ‘day of the has come.”
