Niti Aayog’s Governing Council To Meet On Jun 15

Mumbai: Official sources said on Tuesday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will chair the fifth meeting of the NITI’s governing council on June 15 to discuss various issues concerning water management, agriculture and security.

The Council, Niti Ayyog’s top body comprises all Chief Ministers, lieutenant governors of Union Territories, several Union ministers and senior government officials.

“All Chief Ministers and Union Territories have been invited by Nitish to participate in the meeting,” the sources said.

According to official sources, important topics are to be discussed from the Governing Council, including water management, key issues related to agriculture and aspiring district programs.

Apart from this, the Council will also discuss security issues of Left-wing extremism-affected districts in states like Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh.

Governing Council gets regular, run by Prime Minister, and its first meeting took place on February 8, 2015.
The progress made by the three sub-groups and two workforces of Chief Ministers was reviewed in the second meeting of the Council on July 15, 2015.

In the third meeting of the council on April 23, 2017, Modi pitched for the elections together with the Lok Sabha and the State Legislatures and for the transfer of the January-December financial year.

On June 17, 2018, the fourth meeting of the Council, measures to double the income of the farmers and progress of the government’s flagship schemes were discussed.
