No Power In The Universe Can Bring Back Article 370: PM Modi
Mumbai: PM Narendra Modi in an interview with Dainik Jagran said Supreme Court has put its stamp on the abrogation of Article 370 and added that “Brahmand ki koi bhi takat ab article 370 ki vaapsi nahin kara sakti, lihaza sakaratmat karya main lagen (No force in the universe can make the return of Article 370 possible now, so get involved in positive work).”
Prior to this, on Monday, PM Modi hailed the decision as “historic” and stated that it is not only a legal ruling but also a “beacon of hope” and evidence of our shared desire to forge a stronger and more cohesive India.
SC Verdict on Article 370.
On December 11, the Constitution Bench of the Apex Court unanimously affirmed the President’s authority to revoke Article 370, which resulted in the division of the erstwhile State of Jammu and Kashmir into two Union Territories while depriving the State of its unique rights and benefits.
According to the Court, Article 370 was only intended to be a “temporary provision,” to be eliminated as soon as Jammu and Kashmir’s constitutional unification with India was complete.
The apex court further ordered that Jammu and Kashmir’s union territory be granted statehood as soon as possible and that preparations be made to hold assembly elections there by September 30 of the following year.
One of the main concerns on the BJP’s agenda and a recurring feature of its electoral manifestos is the repeal of Article 370. Ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also encouraged by the ruling of the highest court.
