PM Asks Karnataka To Focus On Controlling COVID-19 In State: CM BS Yediyurappa

Mumbai: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has asked Karnataka to focus on Bengaluru, Kalaburagi and Bidar to see increasing coronavirus cases in these areas, Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa said on Wednesday.

Yeddyurappa said while addressing reporters after the Prime Minister’s video conference with the Chief Ministers on COVID status in the country following a spurt in cases in some states, Yeddyurappa said that people should follow the proper guidelines.

Yeddyurappa told reporters, “As happening in Bengaluru, Kalaburagi and Bidar which are located at the border of Maharashtra, Prime Minister Narendra Modi asked us to focus on these three districts.”

However, he said that there is no need to panic as the cases were under control. Quoting the Prime Minister, Yediyurappa said that there were enough vaccines.

He stated that coronaviruses can only be controlled but not completely eradicated.

Denying any curfew or night ban, the Chief Minister appealed to the people to follow COVID guidelines and use masks and maintain social distance.

He told the people within the four walls to be extremely careful during the congregation.

However, there will be no restriction on public assembly during the by-elections in the Belagavi Lok Sabha constituency and Maski and Basavakalyan assembly constituencies.

According to the Chief Minister, Union Home Minister Amit Shah praised Karnataka for taking the 93 per cent RT-PCR test.

The Prime Minister stressed that vaccines should be better used with less wastage.
