PMO Announces Ex-gratia For Victims Of Gujarat Fire

Mumbai: On Thursday, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said an ex-gratia amount of Rs 2 lakh has been announced from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) to the kin of those who died in the fire accident at Shrey Hospital in Ahmedabad.

The PMO added that Rs 50,000 each would be given to those injured in the incident.

“Ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each from PMNRF would be given to the next of kin of those who have lost their lives due to the hospital fire in Ahmedabad. Rs 50,000 each would be given to those injured due to the hospital fire,” the PMO tweeted.

Earlier today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi mourned the death of eight people killed in the fire.

“Saddened by the tragic hospital fire in Ahmedabad. Condolences to the bereaved families. May the injured recover soon.

Talked to CM Vijay Rupani and Mayor Bijal Patel about the situation.

The administration is providing all possible help to the affected, ”the Prime Minister tweeted.

Eight COVID19 patients including three women and five men lost their lives in a fire at an intensive care unit at a private hospital in Navrangpura, Ahmedabad, early Thursday.

The fire broke out around 3.30 am, reportedly due to a short circuit in the ICU. While 49 patients were admitted to the hospital, the remaining 41 patients were shifted to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Hospital by Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation.
