RBI Governor Was Telling Me About Resignation For 6-7 Months : Modi

Mumbai :  Former Governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Urjit Patel wrote about the resignation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi personally, referring to personal reasons several months before leaving the office in December PM Narendra Modi said in an exclusive interview with ANI news agency.

“The governor had himself requested for resignation (due to personal reasons). I am disclosing this for the first time, he was telling me about this for the last 6-7 months before resigning. He also gave in writing. He wrote me personally, “Modi told ANI in an interview on Tuesday.

Asked whether there was any political pressure on the Governor to resign, Modi denied this saying,“No such question arises. I acknowledge that Patel did a good job as RBI Governor.”

It was PM Modi’s first interview of the year 2019, before heading towards upcoming election.
