Rich People Of Mumbai Should Help: Sanjay Raut Amid Maha Flood Crisis

Mumbai: Shiv Sena’s Sanjay Raut on Monday said that the rich people of Mumbai should help amid casualties caused by incessant rain in the state.

Quoting Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, Raut said, “The state government will try its best but Maharashtra is the responsibility of all those to whom it has given a lot. The state needs help from a thousand hands. Mumbai has some of the richest people in the world, they should help.”

“11 districts of Maharashtra are facing flood situation at the moment. These floods have made lakhs of people homeless and many have lost their lives. The families of the affected have been devastated. Maharashtra government assists the central government but rich people should also pay attention to the needs of their people in the state,” he added.

Raut also said that there are affluent people in Mumbai who should help the government in rebuilding the ravaged villages in Mahad, Satara, Sangli and Kolhapur.

According to the information of the Relief and Rehabilitation Department, till Monday, the death toll has reached 164 in 1028 affected villages.

According to the Chief Minister’s Office, Thackeray said during his visit to the flood-hit Chiplun yesterday that a financial review of the damage caused by the floods in the state would be done in a day or two.

He also directed the concerned district collectors to immediately provide food, medicine, clothes and other essential things to the flood victims.

About 150 National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams have been engaged in relief and rescue operations in floods and landslides affected areas across India, as heavy downpour has disrupted normal lives in several states. 34 teams have been deployed in Maharashtra alone.
