Russia Invites PM Modi As A Chief Guest For Eastern Economic Forum

Mumbai: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and several other leaders from different countries will attend the 5th Eastern Economic Forum. According to the foreign secretary Vijay Gokhale, the main reason PM Modi is visiting Russia and attending the forum is that the Russian President Vladimir Putin had invited Modi.

Narendra Modi will be the chief guest of the Eastern economic forum hosted by Russian President V. Putin. It will also be attended by Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad, and Mongolian President Khaltmaagiin Battulga

The Indian foreign secretary stated another reason why Modi was visiting Russia. Modi and Putin were set to hold the 20th annual summit between India and Russia. He further added that the visit will be a short one.

“It’s going to be a short visit, just 36 hours. PM will arrive in Vladivostok on 4th September morning & depart on 5th Sept evening.” Foreign secretary, Vijay Gokhale said.

Expanding the existing civil nuclear cooperation will be the key focus of the meeting. Both the leaders will be signing as much as 25 pacts that will include trade, defence, investments, industrial cooperation, energy and connectivity corridors.

Modi and Putin last time met in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan in June 2019. During that even both the leaders had agreed to explore new areas of cooperation.
