Mumbai: The Supreme Court on Friday asked the Center to ensure that there is no mist in Delhi-NCR as it was reported that the Air Quality Management Commission will start functioning from today.

A bench of Chief Justice SA Bobde and Justices AS Bopanna and V Ramasubramanian debated air pollution for hearing after the Diwali holiday.

The Centre on Thursday appointed former Delhi Chief Secretary MM Kutty as the Chairman of the Commission for Air Quality Management in the National Capital Region and adjoining areas.

Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, appearing for the Center, informed the bench that the Commission on Air Quality Management will start functioning from Friday and the government has also appointed members of the Commission.

On October 29, the top court was informed by the Centre that it has come out with an Ordinance on curbing pollution and it has been promulgated already.
