Sharad Pawar Taken To Hospital After Pain In Abdomen, To Undergo Surgery

Mumbai: NCP chief Sharad Pawar was feeling uneasy due to pain in his abdomen and was taken to Breach Candy Hospital for a check-up, NCP leader Nawab Malik tweeted.

His medical examination showed a gallbladder problem for which he is likely to undergo surgery, the party informed.

NCP spokesperson Nawab Malik today tweeted saying that Mr Pawar had felt some pain in his abdomen last evening and had undergone a checkup, following which the doctors found stones in his gall bladder. All his programmes now stand cancelled until further notice, Mr Malik tweeted.

“He is on blood-thinning medication which is now being stopped due to this issue. He will be admitted to the hospital on the 31st of March 2021 and endoscopy and surgery will be conducted. Hence, all his programmes stand cancelled until further notice,” the NCP spokesperson said.

A cancer survivor, the 80-year-old former Union minister underwent surgery for the disease in 2004.
