Special Day For Our Odia Brothers And Sisters: Amit Shah On SC Order To Allow Rath Yatra

Mumbai: Country is delighted as the Supreme Court waved a green flag for the famous Rath Yatra in Puri, speaking on which Home Minister Amit Shah congratulated the people of Odisha and said this is a special day for all of us.

“Today is a special day for all of us, particularly our Odia sisters and brothers as well as devotees of Mahaprabhu Shri Jagannath Ji. The entire nation is delighted by the decision of the Supreme Court to ensure the Rath Yatra goes on,” said Home Minister Amit Shah.

Shah said that our Prime Minister Modi understood the sentiments of the devotees and initiated consultations which ensured that the great traditions of our land are observed. It made me, and crores of devotees happy.

“It makes me, as well as crores of devotees across India happy that PM Narendra Modi not only understood the sentiment of the devotees but also initiated consultations which ensured that the great traditions of our land are observed,” Home Minister Amit Shah said.

“Last evening, as per the instructions of PM Narendra Modi, I spoke to Gajapati Maharaj Ji (The King of Puri) and the respected Shankaracharya Ji of Puri and sought their views on the Yatra. This morning, on PM’s instructions, I also spoke to the Solicitor General,” he further added.

“Considering the urgency & importance of the matter, it was placed in front of a vacation bench of the Supreme Court & the hearing took place this afternoon, which paved the way for the important decision by the SC. Congratulations to the people of Odisha,” he concluded.

Seeing the urgency of the situation, a special vacation bench of the Supreme Court led by CJI Sharad Bobde heard the plea, and paved the way for the important decision, said Shah.

Thousands of people signed the petition to reverse the decision of cancelling Rath Yatra by the SC and finally, Lord Jagannath heard the plea of his devotees.
