The Bounce Was Unreal With The New Ball: Hazlewood On 4/25 vs LSG

Mumbai: RCB pacer Josh Hazlewood said the bounce was unreal at the DY Patil Stadium and it helped him to create opportunities to take wickets in the first few overs against LSG.

Faf du Plessis’s 96-run knock and Hazlewood’s four-wicket haul helped Royal Challengers Bangalore beat Lucknow Super Giants by 18 runs here at the Dr DY Patil Stadium. Also Read: Could’ve Done Better With Bowling, RCB’s 181 Was 15-20 Extra Runs: KL Rahul

“It was good fun. The challenge at the end was when the batsmen were working hard. Obviously, we had a great side to try and use and I thought we used that very well. He is the skip he got us the big score. Faf has been brilliant. Few lean games, but he took his time today and kept the scoring going along and finished with a bang. Credit to him,” said Hazlewood in a post-match presentation.

“Just turned and tried to get back on my mark as fast as possible, got lucky (smiles) on him. I am really enjoying the bounce. Wankhede has got a good bounce, but here the bounce in DY is unreal with the new ball. If you get it right you can create opportunities in those first few overs. We have got a well-rounded bowling attack and we cover all bases,” he added.

Chasing 182 runs, Lucknow Super Giants did not have a good start as they dismissed Josh Hazlewood in the third over and dismissed their wicket-keeper batsman Quinton de Kock for 3 runs. Hazlewood struck again as Lucknow lost their second wicket for 6 runs as Manish Pandey left LSG at 33/2.

Krunal Pandya and captain KL Rahul batted well to take their team past 50 runs in the seventh over. Lucknow suffered the biggest blow when they lost in-form captain KL Rahul as Harhal Patel dismissed him for 30 off 24 balls.

Deepak Hooda joined Krunal Pandya in the middle and the duo helped Lucknow cross the 100-run mark in 12.2 overs.

On the next ball, Hooda was dismissed for 13 by Mohammad Siraj. In the next over they lost Kunal Pandya who played brilliant innings of 42 off 28 balls as LSG lost their half for 108 runs.

Hazlewood took his third wicket of the match by dismissing Aayush Badoni for 13 as Lucknow were in trouble at 135/6. Marcus Stoinis kept his side in the hunt with his powerful blows. But Hazlewood cleaned up the hopes of a comeback from LSG.

Jason Holder hit some lusty blows to take his team’s total beyond the 150-run mark. Harshal Patel dismissed Holder to take his second wicket of the match as Lucknow Super Giants lost the match by 18 runs.
