Cabinet Gives Nod For Updating National Population Register

Union Cabinet on Tuesday gave the approval to update the National Population Register (NPR) and approved a budget of Rs 8700 crore towards the same. The NPR, which is, in simple terms, a list of the ‘ordinary residents’ of the country, consists of data collected in 2010 along with the home listing phase of the 2011 Census of India.

U-turn on NRC, Shah says No discussion on yet on it:

After a contradiction in statements amongst Modi-Shah on NRC. Shah said on Tuesday that PM is right, there is no discussion on nationwide NRC now. Earlier home minister Shah had said that there will be NRC in the nation before 2024 polls.

‘More controversial bills, the more you lose,’ Ghulam Nabi Azad:

As BJP lost Jharkhand, Ghulam Nabi Azad claimed that the more controversial bills the government will bring the more states they will lose. After the abrogation of Article 370, they lost Maharashtra and Haryana, now Jharkhand after CAA. They should bring one more bill, so they’ll lose Delhi too.

A woman from Uganda Raped by 2 men in Pune:

A 28-year-old woman from Uganda was raped by 2 men in Pune, in which one of them offered her lift. The woman said to the police that she was waiting outside a restaurant when one of the accused approached her. She accepted the lift, but the man called his friend and made her sit in between. Later they took her to an isolated place and raped her. Police are investigating further.

Case filed on DMK president and 8000 others:

DMK president MK Stalin held a rally against the Citizenship Amendment Act on Monday. A case has been filed all present in this rally as it was carried without police permission. The rally had the presence of senior leaders like P Chidambaram, Dhayanithi Maran, K Kanimozhi, Vaiko and several MPs and MLAs from opposition parties.

Saina to make a return in Fed cup after a family break:

Sania Mirza is all set to make a return after 2016 in the Indian Fed cup squad. She is amongst the top-five players of the squad, which also includes India’s top singles player Ankita Raina.

Ajinkya Rahane slipped in test rankings, Virat on top:

Indian captain Virat Kohli maintained his top position in ICC test rankings. Ajinkya Rahane slipped one position to number 7, while Babar Azam from Pakistan took his 6 number. There are two more batsmen in the top 20, Mayank Agarwal (12) and Hitman Rohit Sharma (15).

Sad news for ‘Hera Pheri’ fans:

Actor Akshay Kumar confirmed that the third film of ‘Hera Pheri’ series is not going to happen. In a meeting with Priyadarshan, he said that it’s still under process. But the actor-director Jodi may return with something new in the comedy zone.

Geeta Phogat blessed with a baby boy:

Commonwealth medal winner and fame Khatron ke Khiladi contestant Geeta Phogat was blessed with a baby boy today. In her Instagram post, she said, “HELLO BOYS!! WELCOME TO THE WORLD He is here we are so much in love please give him your love and blessings he made our life perfect now. Nothing can be described as the feelings of watching your own baby be born.” Geeta married to wrestler Pawan Kumar in the year 2016.
