Ukraine Is Victim Of Crises Created By US: Iran Supreme Leader

Mumbai: Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei said Ukraine is a “victim of the crises concocted by the US”. Iran’s top political authority also said the roots of the conflict must be acknowledged.

“Basically, the US regime creates crises, stays away from crises and nurtures various crises in the world. Ukraine is another victim of this policy,” Khamenei said in a televised speech.

“In my view, Ukraine is a victim of crises created by the United States,” Khamenei said.

“There are two lessons to be learned here. States that rely on the support of the US and Western powers need to know that they cannot rely on such countries,” he said.

While Iran and the United States have been enemies for decades, Tehran and Moscow are strategic partners. Tehran and Moscow are military allies in the conflict in Syria. Russia is also an important trade partner because of Western sanctions against Iran.

Khamenei criticized Washington and other Western nations as talks in Vienna reached a critical stage in reviving the 2015 nuclear deal between Iran and world powers.

Iran said on Monday that efforts to revive the deal could be successful if the United States makes a political decision to meet Tehran’s remaining demands, as months of negotiations enter what one Iranian diplomat called a “now or never” stage.

The stakes are high, as the failure of 10 months of talks could risk a new regional war, more harsh sanctions on Iran by the West and continued upward pressure on world oil prices already strained by the Ukraine conflict.

Iran’s foreign ministry said the remaining issues were the extent to which sanctions would be withdrawn, guaranteeing that the United States would not quit the pact again and resolving questions over uranium traces found at several old but undeclared sites in Iran.

All parties involved in the talks say progress has been made toward resuming a deal to curb Tehran’s nuclear program in exchange for sanctions relief, which the United States abandoned in 2018. But both Tehran and Washington have said there are still some important differences. Bear down.
