We Accept Defeat: Shivakumar As BJP Leads In 12 Seats In K’taka Bypolls

Mumbai: As BJP is leading by 12 seats in Karnataka Assembly polls the Congress party — leading in just two seats — accepted defeat.

Senior Congress leader DK Shivakumar admitted defeat and said that the party agreed with the mandate of the voters of these 15 constituencies.

DK Shivakumar said, “We have to agree with the mandate of the voters of these 15 constituencies. People have accepted the culprits. We have accepted defeat, I don’t think we have to be disappointed.”

Meanwhile, the BJP has already started celebrating as it gained a huge lead just hours after the counting of votes began.

BJP candidate Shivaram Hebbar from Yelapur Arbel won the first by-elections in 15 assembly constituencies in Karnataka, for which the counting of votes is going on on Monday.

Election officials said Hebbar defeated Bhimna Naik of Congress by a margin of over 31,000 votes.

A two-time Congress MLA from Yelapur, Hebbar was among the 13 disqualified MLAs who were given a ticket for the by-election by the BJP as party candidates.
