We Don’t Want More Than What Was Decided Says Uddhav Thackeray While Party Leaders To Meet Maha Governor Today

Mumbai: The ongoing tussle continues between BJP and its biggest alliance Shiv Sena, over government formation in Maharashtra is still on with the Uddhav Thackeray saying the party wants what was decided as part of the power-sharing formula.

Uddhav Thackeray said in a meeting of newly elected Shiv Sena MLAs on Thursday, “We don’t want more than what was decided.

Meanwhile, Shiv Sena leaders Aditya Thackeray, Eknath Shinde, Diwakar Rote and Subhash Desai will meet Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari at 3.30 pm today. Maharashtra minister Eknath Shinde was elected the leader of the party in the state assembly on Thursday. His candidature was proposed by party leader Aditya Thackeray, whose name was also circling for the post.

The election was announced at a meeting of the newly- elected Sena MLAs at party office Sena Bhawan in Dadar area.

The Shiv Sena chief also targeted CM Devendra Fadnavis of Maharashtra and talks between the two parties did not proceed. “No discussion with the BJP has proceeded yet. If the Chief Minister is telling the truth that has been fixed, am I lying?” Uddhav Thackeray asked.

The seat-sharing seems to be mimicking the cabinet formed in 2014 when the Shiv Sena joined the Devendra Fadnavis-led government with a 26:13:04 formula in the 288-seat assembly, where the BJP had 26 ministers, army 13 and others. The allies received four cabinet seats.

However, the Samana editorial continues to warn against the BJP. Whatever was decided after the two parties sealed the alliance before the Lok Sabha elections, Sena mouthpiece Saamana said in the editorial.

“In that press conference, the Chief Minister of Maharashtra (held after the alliance of the two parties) had said that all government posts would be shared equally.” Shiv Sena said, “If the post of Chief Minister does not come under it, then we need to rewrite the course of political science.”

The editorial said that after the spectacular performance in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP has parted ways with the Shiv Sena and is trying to take a second course of ‘use and throw’. “But we won’t die easily, because we have the support of the people,” it said.

No evidence is needed to show what has been decided, but we are living in a time when people lie under oath,” it said.

As per PTI report, BJP legislators swiped in a saffron turban after Devendra Fadnavis was elected the party’s leader in the state legislature.
